3rd baby and crafting?

With my third baby on the way I have to ask myself: When will I get it all done? I love to crochet, I still haven’t finished the quilt for my 2nd little girl, I need to clean, I work from home for a local store on their website, my half hearted attempt at this blog and I have two other little girls who need attention and will soon have an infant who will spend many hours nursing! When will it all get done!? There is always a break in my crocheting or crafting after having a baby, that is just to be expected. But last night as I was trying to fall asleep and my new little jumping bean was having a party in my stomach I couldn’t help but think: How in the heck am I going to do this!? The passage I have been focusing as of late is from Lamentations 3: 22-24 

22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
    for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
    therefore I will wait for him.”

I have been fixated on the: “You will not be consumed” and that his compassions are “new every morning.”  How I need to hear that over, and over and over again. I will not be consumed, I will not be consumed, his compassions NEVER fail. Never. Now if I can just live that out I may just make it, and not just make it but thrive. 

It’s been awhile…

I have been on somewhat of a hiatus. Not really from crocheting, but from posting. Maybe I haven’t made anything I felt was worthy of posting about. Maybe the process of making, taking pictures, posting about it etc. seemed like too much work for a momma of 2. And with a 3rd on the way in the spring I will most likely go through another hiatus! In the meantime I have been falling in love with these cowls and have actually sold a few (let me know if you are interested). I have another black and red one I just finished, a sky blue one I am working on and a purple/gray/white one that is just waiting for some buttons.  These are just simple and fun, and can really be made to go with any style. Buttons really tell the story don’t they? They can make it a casual look, or can add some class. I am hoping to find some sparkly buttons to add a little shine.  I will post some more pics as I get them and make them.  They can easily be made to order so give me your dream and I will try to make it into a reality 🙂

Who Crochet’s a rug?

Oh me…not just a small rug…oh no I am working on an area rug. Why you might ask? Well I can’t find one I like…well that I can afford! Yarn can be expensive, and with two little ones I didn’t want anything too fancy on my floor so I caved. And I bought acrylic not so fancy yarn. But my thinking is that it will probably get beat up anyways and I would weep if I spent precious money on beautiful expensive “alpaca wool” yarn only for it to be peed on, spit up on, juice spilled on, picked at and pulled on. So I am compromising…ha! But yet I am still making it. I always think of those signs that say “well yes you could make this but will you?” I am obviously that person that would…silly me.

So what I have wanted is a round/oval rug to go in the living room. But all the rugs I find are either too expensive, ugly or just not the right colors. So here is what I have started:

By the time I have this finished the girls may be in high school….ha! The pattern I am using is at the purlbee  but again…I am not using the fancy yarn, although I would LOVE to. And someday I will….someday….

Sunshine

Well it’s been awhile since I’ve posted…okay almost a year and a half – ha! But I haven’t given up hope and have been working on some fun projects.  One being an adorable blanket for my niece who will be joining the family in spring, which meant a light -bright beautiful blanket. I think I am in love with this pattern.

 

Doesn’t it just make you long for a warm sun on a cool spring day??  I can’t wait to see her snuggling up in it 🙂

 

Make-up removers

These little guys are awesome.  I have made some for myself and they take my make-up off with just a little warm water!  They are made from 100% cotton yarn and are about the same size (maybe a little bigger) as a square cotton square you would buy at the store.  But they are reusable and can be washed with the rest of your towels and washcloths!

       

I am selling them in bundles of 4 for $6, you’ll never have to buy cotton balls again 🙂

Market Bags

I have two styles of Market Bags.  One of them I followed a pattern (from my previous post) on purlbee.com.  The second I just kind of made up as I went along.  I think that is my favorite way to create!

This is my own creation.  It has more of a base to it so it can catch smaller items.  Great for the market or beach!

However both of the bags are made from 100% Cotton yarn.  I believe the one on Purlbee is Linen.  I love cotton yarn because of how sturdy it is and washes easily with the rest of your laundry!  I am working on another one that is multicolor version of the green bag and a rose color version of the cream bag.  I am selling both bags.  The green one is $18 and the cream one is $25.  Let me know if you would like a different color in either!

Farmers Market?

So I have been considering getting a stand at the Farmers Market in Cville this Fall.  But my dilemma is 1)Will it be worth the $5 (possibly more if I rent a tent) and 2) What to make??? I have a bunch of cowls, scarfs and earrings but I am feeling the need to expand.  So here are a couple thoughts:

A Market bag:

I love this tote, I have made one before.  It is from the Purlbee.  They have so many great ideas!  I think I could spend hours milling around that site.

My second idea was a make-up remover:

I made myself one and it works great.  It’s basically like using a cotton square that you would by a big package of but it’s reusable!  I think I will make myself a few more and then some extras for selling.  Thoughts? Will it sell? Would you buy one or two? 🙂

My last idea was pot holders, but not just any potholders:

First off I love the colors that these are done in, I also love the shape, it’s what I call funky retro 🙂 I’m pretty sure my grandma had some like these, which makes them pretty amazing in my book.

Well with all these new ideas I better get my crocheting butt in gear!

Stinky Wash Cloth Solution:

Make new ones with extra cotton yarn!  Of course that is the easiest way right?  I think my husband is just happy I am using up my extra yarn.  These were super simple and quick.  I am a big fan of bright colors and am very excited about tossing out some old wash cloths that I despise!

I would like to make a few more, but here is what I have so far.  It has been a week of finishing up projects which feels good!

Twirly Girly Skirt!

So recently a friend contacted me about making a twirly skirt for her daughter, and I am always up for the challenge!  I found a great pattern that I used and it turned out great.  I think I will be making on for Addy soon. Here are some pics of the skirt:

Now this definitely isn’t a spring skirt, but it will be great in the fall, winter & spring!  I am planning on doing other variations and play with the sizing of flounces.  If you have a request please let me know.  I can’t wait to see Addy twirling around in hers once it’s made 🙂
